Weather Continues Cold, Morrow And Maupin Continue Hot With Victory At Lake Of The Ozarks

What continues to be a common theme in 2018, inclement weather conditions again made an appearance, this time cold temperatures and strong winds during the Crappie Masters sponsored by The Renewable Fuels Association “Ethanol Fueled With Pride”, American Ethanol, and Bass Pro Shops Lake of the Ozarks National Qualifier and First Leg of the Missouri State Championship hosted by Captain Ron’s along with Spike It Saturday, April 14th. Also in recent weeks another common theme continues, the team of Barry Morrow and Chad Maupin brought in a large 7 fish limit weighing 12.54 pounds at the Lake of the Ozarks besting a field of 113 boats claiming the $6,000.00 first place prize. Morrow and Maupin found quality fish earlier in the week and left them alone only checking to see if they were there tournament day. They were and the bite started early. Maupin stated during the post weigh in interview that it was a dream day. Morrow agreed saying that in the years he’s fished LOZ, he hasn’t seen a 7 fish weight like the team brought to the scale. With the strong winds, Morrow and Maupin gave credit to their Humminbird and MinnKota combination to locate and stay on the fish. The team spider rigged 3 inch Bobby Garland Baits tipped with minnows in 6 to 8 feet of water catching fish near the bottom on B’n’M Poles. Morrow and Maupin took home $6,000.00 for the victory along with the Missouri Corn Growers Association/American Ethanol one day $250.00 E10 bonus for using E10 fuel in their boat. Barry and Chad also claimed an additional $100.00 Jenko Fishing bonus, the $250.00 Power Pole Captains Cash bonus, and a $200.00 Spike It bonus for using Chartreuse Dip-N-Glow on their jigs. Morrow and Maupin are sponsored by Off Shore Tackle, Beaver Bottom Baits, Bobby Garland Baits, Puddle Jumpers, Stump Jumper, Crappietown Baits, Huckabee Rods, B’n’M Trolling Poles, Everharts Outdoor Store, Electra-Air Heat and Air, and Performance Fiberglass.
