Barry Morrow and Chad Maupin Win The One Pole Ultimate Challenge on Truman Lake PDF Print

Ultimate Challenge was putting it mild for the field of 75 teams representing 10 different states traveling to Clinton, MO for this one pole, artificial bait only tournament on the country's most well known one pole fishing lake. Truman Lake was on the rise as much as 12-18 inches daily with prefishing conditions being reported as difficult. As always, someone figures out a pattern and puts together a winning stringer.

Barry Morrow and Chad Maupin weighed in a two day total of 18.78 pounds to become the 2015 Truman Lake One Pole Ultimate Challenge winners. The team stated the key for catching the larger crappie was using their electronics to find submerged structure that received less fishing pressure. They were catching their fish in 13-18 foot of water, just off of the bottom with a combination of jigs which mostly included the MidSouth Tackle white/chartreuse tube jig. Morrow and Maupin are sponsored by Crappie Town Daddee Shad and Bobby Garland Baits, Stump Jumper, Gideon Hooks, Beaver Bottom Baits, Huckabee Rods, and Perotti Rod Holders, and took home a check for $5800.00 which included a $500.00 bonus, donated by the Missouri Corn Growers Association and American Ethanol, for using E10 gasoline in their boat along with a $300.00 bonus for using Midsouth Tackle tube jigs to catch some of their winning crappie.

Schoenherr And Neuhaus Are Alabama State Champions PDF Print

Prattville, AL hosted the 2015 Alabama State Championship this past weekend, June 5.6, on the Alabama River which drew teams from 11 different states and paid back over $13,000.00 in cash and prizes. Day one of the competition saw some big weights and put local team, Steve Brown and Gerald Overstreet in the lead with an impressive seven fish stringer weighing 11.84 pounds. Day two seemed to produce greater weights and also shake up the leader board after the final teams weighed.

The Road Runner and Tru Turn Hooks Team of Kyle Schoenherr and Rodney Neuhaus wieghed in a day 2 weight of 11.55 pounds to give them a two day total of 22.24 pounds to win the Alabama State Championship. Schoenherr and Neuhaus were spider rigging  with BnM Poles on Tite-Lok Rod Holders along the main river channel, targeting submerged lay down trees and tree tops over a 40 mile stretch of river. Schoenherr stated that the key for catching the winning weight was to put their baits in as many structures as possible to find seven good fish each day, catching up to 150 crappie daily. The team caught their fish on a combination of Midsouth jigs and Tru Turn Hooks tipped with minnows in 12-25 foot of water, catching their crappie 8-12 foot deep. Schoenherr and Neuhaus fish from a Ranger boat with a Mercury motor and a Minn Kota trolling motor. They are sponsored by Road Runner, Tru Turn Hooks, Bnm Poles, Tite Lok Rod Holders, Midsouth Tackle, Muddy Water Baits, Lowrance, Harvest Clean, Gamma Line, Frog Hair Floats, and Rend Lake Resort. Kyle and Rodney received a check for $5000.00 which included a $500.00 bonus, donated by the Missouri Corn Growers Association and American Ethanol, for using E10 gasoline in their boat.
