Crappie Masters sponsored by The Renewable Fuels Association "Ethanol Fueled with Pride", American Ethanol, and Bass Pro Shops held an exciting two day national qualifying South Carolina State Championship tournament on Lake Greenwood, March 3rd and 4th that saw a rarity in tournament fishing with a team winning back to back state championships. That was the case this year as the formidable team of Mike Huffstetler and Ray Koon topped a tough field of local legends and strong national teams with a two-day total weight of 23.49 pounds to claim their second straight South Carolina State Championship. Huffstetler and Koon started Championship Saturday in third place slightly behind day one leaders Billy and Scott Williams, and the second place team of Matthew Outlaw and Jimmy Taylor.

Crappie Masters Is Teaming Up With Team Reeve PDF Print

As many of you know, In November, 2015, Rhonda Reeve was diagnosed with Stage 3 ovarian cancer. She went through several surgeries, sixteen rounds of chemotherapy, and spent more than two months in the hospital. By the grace of God, Rhonda is currently in remission and is participating in a trial immunotherapy study.

Team Reeve has joined efforts with the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOCC) to raise awareness and educate others on this silent and deadly disease. Each year, more than 22,000 women in the United States are diagnosed with ovarian cancer and over 14,000 die. Team Reeve needs your help to fight this disease! This is why Crappie Masters has decided to join Team Reeve to help give a stage to talk about this cancer and its early warning signs. Every angler, male or female, has a role in fighting ovarian cancer! Each angler has a mom, a wife, a daughter, a granddaughter or a neighbor that may need this knowledge to save their life.

If you would like to join in and be a part of this effort, it’s simple. Donate Today!! What’s great about your donation is not only is the donation tax deductible, you will get your name or logo added to the Team Reeve boat for the year with a donation of $100.00 or more. Turners Turn Out First Win And Claim Louisiana State Championship PDF Print

Tennessee husband and wife team of Paul and Elizabeth Turner, the reigning Crappie Masters Male/Female Angler Team of the Year, went wire to wire to win their first Crappie Masters tournament sponsored by The Renewable Fuels Association "Ethanol Fueled With Pride", American Ethanol, and Bass Pro Shops, tournament, in turn claiming the Louisiana State Championship at the Lake D'Arbonne National Qualifier Louisiana State Championship sponsored by Spike It in Farmerville, Louisiana. The tournament was also sponsored on a local level by the Union Parish Tourist Commission, the Union Parish Chamber of Commerce, and the Ruston-Lincoln CVB.

Lake D'Arbonne had seen a lot of changes since last years tournament with a large draw down on the lake and a totally different winter weather pattern that held true during tournament week for prefishing with warm summer like weather followed by rain, wind and a cold front that dropped temperatures dramatically through the week, an eerie prelude to the tournament days themselves. Prefishing also told the tournament story with fish in a spring and spawn transition with some still relating to channels, some moving into feeder creeks, and some already moving up on flats. Finding a consistent quality tournament fish bite was hard to establish, but as we've seen, some teams find those potential winning fish. Day one of the tournament saw near record warm temperatures and strong winds, which did not allow many of the ninety-six teams from fourteen states to fish the areas they wanted. However well over half of the participating teams weighed in their seven fish limit being led by Paul and Elizabeth Turner topping the scales with an impressive 13.24 pounds, just ahead of the team of Dustin Harris and Kelley Graham weighing in a 13.07 pound stringer. Rounding out the top three was the Missouri Corn Grower Association/American Ethanol team of Kevin Jones and Billy Don Surface weighing 12.42 pounds.
