Shoemake And Cappel Claim Hard Earned Victory At Ozark Rods Open At Rend Lake PDF Print

For one of the few times in 2018, weather did not play a factor for the 64 teams that took part in the Crappie Masters sponsored by The Renewable Fuels Association “Ethanol Fueled With Pride”, American Ethanol, and Bass Pro Shops Rend Lake Ozark Rods National Qualifier May 5th at Whittington, Illinois. Light winds and warm temperatures greeted the teams, the one thing that didn’t cooperate was the big female bite. Teams found and caught large numbers of fish with many reporting boating over 100 fish, but struggled to find the larger spawning females. At the end of the day, the Muddy Water Baits team of Jesse Shoemake and Shane Cappel separated themselves from a stellar field bringing in 7 fish that topped the scale at 9.31 pounds, just outdistancing the hard charging Paul Turner who settled for a second place finish for the second week in a row. Shoemake and Cappel spider rigged B’n’M BGJP Rods in 8 to 10 feet of water with Muddy Water Baits tipped with minnows catching fish in the 7 foot range.  With Mercury power and MinnKota Trolling Motor, the team was able to stay on an area that produced quality fish in the past. Shoemake and Cappel took home the $4,000.00 winners check plus the $250.00 Missouri Corn Growers Association and American Ethanol bonus for using E10 fuel, an additional $100.00 Jenko Fishing Bonus using their minnow dipper, plus the $250.00 Power Pole Captains Cash Program bonus for winning the tournament. Shoemake and Cappel are sponsored by Muddy Water Baits, K-2 Koolers, and Perotti Bilt Rod Holders.

Brown And Coy Ward Off Hard Charging Turners To Claim American Ethanol Kentucky/Tennessee State Championship PDF Print

After heavy rains prior to tournament days sent Kentucky Lake on a fast rise, tournament days themselves were mild however fishing was anything but.  With quality fish scattered and hard to find, the 80 Anglers that took part in the Crappie Masters sponsored by the Renewable Fuels Association “Ethanol Fueled With Pride”, American Ethanol, and Bass Pro Shops Kentucky and Barkley Lakes National Qualifier American Ethanol Kentucky/Tennessee State Championship April 27th and 28th out of Paris, Tennessee, sent some teams to Barkley Lake where they found healthier and better quality fish. When the smoke cleared and the dust settled, the team of Austin Brown and Buddy Coy outlasted an 11 plus pound second day by Paul and Elizabeth Turner with one of their own to claim the title with 14 fish weighing 20.74 pounds and the $5,000.00 winners check. Brown and Coy also collected an additional $500.00 for using E10 fuel in their Boat compliments of The Missouri Corn Growers Association and American Ethanol, plus another $100.00 Jenko Fishing bonus for Jenko products. With wind a bit of a factor on Championship Saturday, Brown and Coy took advantage of their MinnKota Trolling Motor to stay on their fish 2-poling B’n’M Poles in 15 to 25 feet of water, catching the better fish anywhere from 10 to 20 foot using mainly Midsouth Tackle Green/Chartreuse tubes.

Hurrican Howard Makes Landfall at Eufaula, OK PDF Print

It was an emotional and well received victory by peers for the HH Rods and Reels, and Foxy Fishing Gear Team of Eric and Leann Howard at the Crappie Masters sponsored by The Renewable Fuels Association “Ethanol Fueled With Pride”, and Bass Pro Shops Lake Eufaula, Oklahoma National Qualifier, April 21, 2018 locally sponsored by The Lake Eufaula Association, and the Eufaula Chamber of Commerce.

A Crappie Masters tournament win has been in sight for Team Howard, but wasn’t realized until a 1,000 plus mile trip from their home state of Florida for the first time, fishing the intimidating Lake Eufaula in Eufaula, Oklahoma. Weather again played a huge factor on Championship Saturday with an approaching cold front followed by steady rain and thunderstorms making the bite for many of the 54 Angler teams change dramatically tournament day. Reports of 10 to 11 pound weights on Friday fell to 7 to 8 Saturday without making the necessary adjustments that Team Howard did after a slow start.  The Howard’s made a critical move going to deeper water prior to the front as opposed to following its arrival. From past experience, Eric and Leann found their weigh fish in 4 to 13 feet of water at scattered depths, but settled generally in the 6 to 8 foot range catching the better fish just 2 feet below the surface. Eric said in practice they were in the nine and a half to ten pound range, but bumped that up to 11.35 pounds on 7 fish with a 2.18 kicker which was the second place big fish good for $324.00 on tournament day topping the defending champion team of Charlie and Travis Bunting by .33 pounds taking home the $4,000.00 winners check along with the additional $250.00 Missouri Corn Growers Association and American Ethanol bonus for using E10 fuel in their boat, and another $100.00 bonus for using Jenko Fishing products in their win. Eric and Leann were also the top placing Male/Female Team of the tournament good for a Humminbird Helix 5. Team Howard spider rigged orange and chartreuse Skippers Moon Jigs and hair Jigs tipped with minnows on HH Rods to claim the title, along with Humminbird Electronics, MinnKota Trolling Motor, and a Mercury powered Nitro Boat which were also mentioned as key to dealing with the elements. Team Howard is sponsored by HH Rods and Reels, Foxy Fishing Gear, Power Pole, Skipper’s Jigs, Bobby Garland, Jiganomics, Fish Monkey, Rod Sox, Trapper Tackle, Spike-It, and Dub-L-Seat.
