Storybook Finish At Lake Of The Ozarks As Jones And Surface Win Sponsor Tournament PDF Print

You could say it almost played out like a Hallmark Channel Movie as Kevin Jones and Billy Don Surface sponsored by The Missouri Corn Growers Association and American Ethanol, claimed the teams first Crappie Masters victory against a power packed field of 99 teams April 20th at the Crappie Masters sponsored by The Renewable Fuels Association “Ethanol Fueled With Pride”, American Ethanol, and Bass Pro Shops National Qualifier and First Leg of the Missouri State Championship also co-sponsored by the Missouri Corn Growers Association and hosted by Captain Ron’s. Beautiful weather greeted Anglers from across the country the first half of practice week with large fish weights being reported with keeper catches in excess of 100 fish per day made winning weight predictions in record territory, but a very strong cold front late in the week changed all that dramatically as tournament day saw temperatures start in the upper 30’s but quickly warm into the 70’s however by then the big fish bite had changed which saw a lot of teams struggle to get close to practice weights. That was just the opposite for Jones and Surface as Billy Don reported he had no practice day with over eight and a half pounds on seven fish. That all changed on Championship Saturday as the team found an area about half the size of a football field just off the current where bigger fish were in a pod staged over open water. The first fish the team caught was a 1.91 pounder, the second over 1.70 pounds, and that generally set the stage for the day. Even though Jones and Surface have hundreds of stake beds on the expansive Lake of the Ozarks, they felt going back and forth through the area and staying put, patient, and “grinding it out” as they said gave the best opportunity to win. That feeling came to fruition as Jones and Surface sweated out team after team who brought their fish to the scale eventually claiming their first Crappie Masters victory, the $5,000.00 that went with that, an additional $500.00 bonus for using E10 fuel in their boat from the Missouri Corn Growers Association and American Ethanol, and $250.00 from Power Pole for being signed up in the Captain’s Cash program. Jones and Surface took advantage of their Mercury powered boat and as important their Humminbird and Minn Kota Trolling Motor package to stay just off the current on fish. The team spider rigged Ozark Rods in 8 to 16 foot of water catching the bigger fish near bottom by downsizing to a 2-inch watermelon colored Muddy Water Bait. Kevin Jones and Billy Don Surface are sponsored by the Missouri Corn Growers Association, American Ethanol, Ozark Rods, Muddy Water Baits, Ranger Boats, Ellis Battery, Power Pole, and Mercury Motors.

No Denial! Carlile And Nichols Stay Hot To Claim American Ethanol/Arkansas State Championship PDF Print

Combating a high powered field, night and day weather changes, and fishing without his partner, Robert Carlile kept the teams stated goal of competing for the Angler Team of the Year in great standing by claiming the teams second Crappie Masters Tournament victory of the year narrowly holding off the other two-time winning team of Wade McDonald and Eric Cagle at the Crappie Masters sponsored by The Renewable Fuels Association “Ethanol Fueled With Pride”, American Ethanol, and Bass Pro Shops Lake Dardanelle National Qualifier American Ethanol Arkansas State Championship hosted by American Ethanol and the Russellville Area Chamber of Commerce April 12 and 13. Making runs of nearly 30 miles if needed and timing fish bite in areas, Carlile was able to leapfrog day one leaders Edward and Reuben Shawn bringing in 14 fish weighing 28.27 pounds and taking home the $4,700.00 winners check along with an additional Missouri Corn Growers Association and American Ethanol $500.00 bonus for using E10 fuel in his boat and a $100.00 Jenko Fishing Product bonus. Carlile started off spider rigging but quickly went back to his preferred single pole technique catching fish near the bottom in 10 to 14 foot of water using his preferred crawdad colored Dunkin hair jig giving praise to the dependability of his Mercury outboard and Minn Kota Trolling Motor on his long runs and shortened fishing times due to those runs. Carlile also said that staying with his game plan was a huge key to the victory. Robert Carlile and Craig Nichols are sponsored by Huckabee Rods, Lowrance, and Dunkin Jigs.

Haidusek And McClure Stick A Fork In The Field and Claim Victory At Lake Fork PDF Print

Buoyed by a 3.11 pound Texas Toad on Championship Saturday, the Missouri team of Frank Haidusek and Mark McClure relied on one pole experience and electronics to claim the teams first Crappie Masters victory at the Crappie Masters sponsored by The Renewable Fuels Association “Ethanol Fueled With Pride”, American Ethanol, and Bass Pro Shops Lake Fork, Texas National Qualifier and One Pole Artificial Bait Ultimate Challenge April 5th and 6th hosted by Emory Tourism. Sitting in the fifth position after day one with the possibility of strong thunderstorms on Championship Saturday, stayed with their plan, dealt with the rain and topped a strong field backed by the teams 3.11 pound kicker fish to take their place in the Millennium Marine Hot Seats where they stayed as the 4 teams ahead of them faltered and were unable to overtake Haidusek and McClure’s 30.72 pounds on 14 fish over two days of fishing claiming the $7,000 first place check along with the big fish check of $1,148.00 plus a $500.00 E10 bonus from the Missouri Corn Growers Association and American Ethanol. Haidusek and McClure caught their fish scattered 13 to 20 feet deep fishing underwater structure on HH Rods and Ozark Rods using a Spike-It Junebug 2 inch jig and the new Midsouth Tackle tube in the MU color, a black and gold color scheme designed by McClure. With Saturday’s storm associated winds the team credited not only their Mercury powered Nitro boat and Minn Kota Trolling Motor said their Humminbird and Garmin combination kept them consistently on the bigger fish, which led to the win. Haidusek and McClure are sponsored by HH Rods and Reels, Foxy Fishing Gear, Ozark Rods, Spike It, Top Secret Jigs, Rod Sox, Midsouth Tackle, Crappieholic, Dairy Queen, Wyld Gear, and Dietz Family Restaurant.
