Carlile And Nichols Close Deal And Claim Crappie Masters National Championship

With a 145 boat field, perfect weather, and the best Crappie Anglers in the world, something was going to give, and at the Crappie Masters sponsored by The Renewable Fuels Association “Ethanol Fueled With Pride”, American Ethanol, and Bass Pro Shops National Championship September 27th and 28th on Grenada Lake in Grenada, Mississippi, it was the huge Crappie that inhabit the waters. With nearly spring like weights, the cream rose to the top and was filled with some of the top teams of the 2019 season topped by the Oklahoma team of Robert Carlile, and Craig Nichols who already had three victories during the season added a fourth and the biggest of all, the Crappie Masters National Championship with a two-day incredible fourteen fish weight of 31.97 pounds with a 2.85 pound kicker, out lasted day one leaders Richard Bowling and Garry Lee, and the Crappie Masters Angler Team of the Year of Matthew and Bruce Rogers to claim the $25,000 top prize.

Rogers Rolls To One Pole Victory And Claims Crappie Masters Angler Team Of The Year

In what could be called one of the best runs in years in tournament fishing, Matthew and father Bruce Rogers put a stamp on it by winning the Crappie Masters sponsored by The Renewable Fuels Association “Ethanol Fueled With Pride”, American Ethanol, and Bass Pro Shops Truman Lake National Qualifier and One Pole Ultimate Challenge hosted by Clinton Tourism and sponsored by Midsouth Tackle Company Friday, August 30th and 31st. The Rogers knew coming into the tournament that a win would basically guarantee they would be the Crappie Masters Angler Team of the Year and they delivered with a nearly 2 pound advantage over the field weighing in 14 fish for the tournament that topped the scale at 22.83 pounds with a 2.09 pound kicker fish. This has nearly completed a dream season as Matthew in a 12 month span has claimed a Crappie Masters National Championship, Missouri State Championship, One Pole Ultimate Challenge Championship, and the 2019 Crappie Masters Angler Team of the Year solidifying he is a force on the tournament trail to be reckoned with. However it was just about lost after a rocky start literally on Crappie Masters Championship Saturday as the Rogers had a boat malfunction and ended up on shore rocks. Fortunately everyone was alright and with the help of Kevin and Clint Pipes the team was able to fish and took advantage being the only team to break 11 pounds both tournament days. Matthew and Bruce caught most fish primarily on custom hair Jigs fishing 8 to 18 feet deep, catching their bigger fish at a 10 to 12 foot depth. Matthew had found the fish two weeks earlier and left them alone until tournament days, which proved to be a smart idea. Of course Matthew credited his electronics, Minn Kota Trolling Motor, and Mercury Motor along with not over reacting to detrimental situations and stay the course. The team took home $6,000.00 for the win plus the $500.00 Missouri Corn Merchandising Council E10 bonus for using E10 fuel, and the $100.00 Jenko Fishing bonus for using their products. Matthew and Bruce Rogers are sponsored by Outlaw Rods, Garmin, Anglers Port Marine, and MR Baits.

Turner Trumps Strong Field And Take Truman Win

Arguably one of the best Crappie fishermen in the country, there was no arguing the dominant performance turned in by Tennessee’s Paul Turner Saturday, August 17th at the Crappie Masters sponsored by The Renewable Fuels Association “Ethanol Fueled With Pride”, American Ethanol, and Bass Pro Shops Truman Lake National Qualifier and Final Leg of the Missouri State Championship hosted Clinton Tourism, and The Missouri Corn Growers Association. Turner turned heads and topped the scale with an impressive 11.54 pound 7 fish limit including the big fish of the tournament, a 2.02 pound Truman toad. Turner bucked the trend of most other participants by spider rigging B’n’M Pow-R-Troller Poles using minnows and hair Jigs generally in open water away from the willows targeting and chasing down the larger fish with the help of his Electronics in 8 to 12 feet of water catching the bigger fish earlier in the day about halfway down in the water column, and later in the day near bottom. He credited his Minn Kota Trolling Motor, and Humminbird Electronics in staying with the larger fish as they moved. Turner also stated that fishing by himself, he lost 2 fish in the 2 pound class that easily would have taken him above 12 pounds, however it turned out not landing those fish didn’t come back to haunt him as he easily outdistanced the second place Team by well over a pound. Turner also said that he chose to push only 6 poles unlike the customary 8 poles to stay on top of the bite. Turner took home $5,000.00 for the win, $1,302.00 for having big fish of the tournament, $250.00 from the Missouri Corn Growers Association for using E10 fuel, $100.00 for using Jenko Fishing products, and finally $800.00 for participating in the Police Officer Benefit Tournament that was taking place simultaneously with the Crappie Masters event. Paul and Elizabeth Turner are sponsored B’n’M Poles, Crappieholic,, and War Eagle Boats.

Carlile And Nichols Single Pole Their Way To A Hat Trick On Mark Twain

It was beautiful summer weather and an elite field at the Crappie Masters sponsored by The Renewable Fuels Association “Ethanol Fueled With Pride”, American Ethanol, and Bass Pro Shops Mark Twain Lake National Qualifier and Second Leg of the Missouri State Championship August 3rd, and hosted by the Missouri Corn Growers Association at Chigger Hill Bait and Tackle.

With the end of the season near, and very tight Angler Team of the Year and HH Rods and Reels Rookie Team of the Year races coming down to the wire over 140 of the nations best and elite Anglers made their way to Mark Twain Lake in Missouri to try and find the elusive bigger fish that inhabit the waters. Normally a one-pound average would be looked at as a successful day, however the best anglers in the country proved that a one-pound average was good for 21st place. Oklahoma’s Robert Carlile and Craig Nichols who stunned the large crowd with a seven fish limit topping the scales at 9.78 pounds that included the second big fish of the tournament, a 1.74 pound kicker that was good for an additional $432.00 on top of the $4,400.00 for the teams third victory of 2019. Being the team’s first trip to Mark Twain Lake Robert stated he fished every arm and cove on the lake in practice generally averaging around a pound per fish, but as happens at times, Championship Saturday brought out the bigger fish with a minor adjustment, fishing shallower in the water column single poling lime green and chartreuse Jigs and minnows in 6 to 9 foot of water targeting bigger fish 4 to 5 feet deep. Using their Minn Kota Trolling Motor and Electronics they fished a stretch that held those bigger fish most of the day. Carlile and Nichols run a Mercury powered Bass Cat boat. Along with the winning and second big fish money the team also took advantage of the $250.00 Missouri Corn Growers Association/American Ethanol bonus, and the $100.00 Jenko Fishing bonus for using Jenko Fishing products. Robert Carlile and Craig Nichols are sponsored by Lowrance, Bonehead Tackle, Big Bite Baits, Power Crappie, and Huckabee Rods.
