Bass Pro Shops Crappie Masters held a one day national qualifier on Lake Neely Henry Saturday May 12, 2007. Sponsored by Bass Pro Shops, Tracker Marine, Minn Kota, Humminbird and the City of Gadsden, Alabama, 110 anglers competed for classic qualification and top prizes from 11 different states. Temperatures in the upper 80’s with sunshine and low winds made for great day of fishing.

Husband and wife team, Henry Haley and Jo Haley of Illinois weighed in seven fish for a total of 10.80 lbs. to give them a solid second place. The team tight lined in 8-13 foot depths using orange and chartreuse Southern Pro jigs with live bait. The uses B & M Sam Heaton poles. Second place earned the team $2500.00 and top male/female honors with Bass Pro Shop gift cards.

Third place team was Chuck Prevost and Fred Cronon of Georgia with a weight of 10.37 lbs. To earn themselves $1250.00 the team said they slow trolled in 8-10 feet of water and had to be on the stumps to catch fish. They fished with Southern Pro blue and white jigs tipped with minnows.
