Bass Pro Shops Crappie Masters All American Trail held the second leg of the Missouri State Championship and one day national qualifier at Truman Lake on June 16, 2007 in Clinton, MO. Sponsored by Bass Pro Shops, Tracker Marine, Mercury, Minn Kota, Hummingbird, Benson Convention and Visitors Bureau and Bucksaw Resort the tournament brought 178 anglers to compete for the event. Sportsman Channel’s Cody & Cody Revive The Outdoors show was on hand filming the tournament, KDKD radio was on hand for live coverage and Crappie Masters Radio Brad and Bryan MC’d the event.

Pre-fishing was difficult early in the week as water levels were dropping significantly. The bite turned on for most with anglers reporting plenty of fish with difficulties landing the big fish. Temperatures hit 90 with a light breeze and high humidity making for a hot tournament day.

2006 Missouri State Champions, Angler's Port Marine Team of Russell Beck and Tim Logan sponsored by Skeeter boats, took first place with 8.5 lbs. The team stated they fished 20 miles of the lake and just kept working. “The bite was like perch, you had to be patient and let them really take it.” They fished hedges and hardwoods in 12-14 foot of water and had to fish were there was no current to get bites. They used Ozark Rods with Bobby Garland and Rocky Top purple/black chartreuse jigs tipped with minnows. First earned the $5100.00, The Reaction-System, Woodshed Champion Table and Minn Kota bucks award.

The Kentucky team of Jerry Trimble and Cliff Edwards finished in second place. Their seven fish total of 8.15 lbs moved them up enough to over take the next few teams. The team stated they were “doodle socking” or dipping the hardwoods. They used black and chartreuse Rocky Top jigs fishing 8-10 foot of deep. Second place earned the team $2600.00

Third place went to Charles and Kevin Rogers of Missouri. They weighed in at 8.12 lbs. on seven fish. They stated, “We fished fast, like a bass tournament moving around a lot”. They fished the Grand arm and caught a lot of fish using Bobby Garland white chartreuse jigs without tipping on Outlaw poles. Third place earned the team $1250.00.

Big fish was won by Elwood Shepherd and Junior Irvin with a crappie weighing 2.22 lbs. The team earned $616.00 plus $250.00 from Proplite. Bucksaw Marina gave away cash prizes of $250.00 for the teams that traveled the farthest, Henry Walker-Jackie Blocker from Alabama and the team with the lowest seven fish total Greg Graham and Brendon Mick whom had 3.16 lbs.

The Kids Rodeo was exciting as Cody Easom of Revive the Outdoors television show was on hand for autographs and Mc’d the event. Thirty five kids enjoyed the event and received prizes and autographs with one young lady showing anglers how to catch a nice crappie.

The Missouri State Championship will be on Mark Twain Lake on Aug 4-5, 2007. The first day is a one day national qualifier open to all anglers. The second day will be the state championship where the top 50 teams from the combined weights of Ozarks, Truman and Mark Twain will compete for the state championship. Fort Gibson, Oklahoma is the next tournament June 30, 2007. August 25th at Sardis Lake is the last chance to qualify for the Mississippi State Championship which will be held on September 21 and 22, 2007.
