Bass Pro Shops Crappie Masters tournament trail held the Sardis Lake divisional tournament and Mississippi State Championship qualifier on August 25th. Despite hot weather 98 anlgers attended the event. Sponsored by Bass Pro Shops, Tracker Marine, Mercury, Minn-Kota, Humminbird and the Sardis Chamber of Commerce over half of the teams were from out of state.

Coy Sipes and Gilford Sipes from Alabama sponsored by Blakemore Lures Roadrunner, took first place with a seven fish total weight of 9.38 lbs. The team used Roadrunners tipped with minnows, BnM poles and Triple Fish Line. The first place team trolled 10-15 foot deep. The team weighed in some fish and went back out catching the rest within the last hour of competition. First place earned them $1000.00.

Second place went to Father-Son team of Kenny and Kerry Colson of Kentucky with a weight of 9.08. The team trolled at 12 foot depths using silver homemade jigs with minnows. The team earned $600.00 for their efforts.

Two teams tied for 3rd place with a weight of 8.94 lbs. Mississippians Ricky Odom and Danny McCormick said they were pulling crankbaits about 100 feet behind the boat. Kent Driscoll and Terry Bryd from Tennessee pulled crankbaits at 10-15 foot depth using BnM poles. The 3rd place tie earned each team $450.00.

Big Fish was won by Tracy McIntosh and John woods with a crappie weighing 1.90 lbs. Second big fish was won by Lowery Joseph and Kenneth Thompson with a 1.87 lb. crappie.

The divisional tournament qualified participants to fish the Mississippi State Championship to be held September 21 & 22nd at the Grand Casino Resort in Tunica, MS.
