Bass Pro Shops Crappie Masters All American Trail came to Kerr Buggs Reservoir March 29th, 2008 for its first tournament on the lake. Sponsored by Bass Pro Shops, Tracker Marine, Toyota, Mercury Motors, Minn-Kota, Humminbird, Clarksville Convention and Visitor Bureau and the Clarksville Economic Development Association the tournament guaranteed $12,000.00 minimum payback and a chance to win $100,000.00 if a state record is caught. 88 anglers took a shot at the record. With a front moving in for competition day the state record was not to be broken. Anglers stated they caught plenty of fish but large crappie were hard to come by. Father and sons teams ruled the day with two placing in the top 3 and four competing.

Local father-son team of Ellis Arthur and Paul Arthur won the tournament claiming the top prize with 11.35 lbs. The team stated they had to fish very hard as the crappie were not active and they had to stay over the top of them to get bites. The team tight lined slowly at 4-7 foot depths with most of the fish caught at 7 foot. The team used jigs with orange color on Wally Marshall poles and BnM poles. First place earned the team $5,000.00.

Second place went to Randy Pope and Jerry Pruitt with a total weight of 10.16 lbs. The team stated they fished 12 foot docks. The fished with bright chartreuse Lindsey grubs with dark clouds changing to white fuzzy grubs when the skies got lighter. Second place earned them a check for $2500.00.

Third place honors went to father-son team of Donald Wall and Bennie Wall with at total weight of 9.88 lbs. The team slow trolled using a variety of colors and some home made pink-black jigs on BnM poles. Team earned $1250.00 for third place. Bass Pro Shops paid 10 places with cash prizes and 15 with cash & prizes.

Big fish was won by Marshall Hancock and Steve Price with a slab weighing 2.56 lbs.

Next stop on the tour is the great lake of Grenada in Grenada, MS. on April 5th.
