Welch and Polley win Lake Shelbyvile

Bass Pro Shops Crappie Masters Tracker Series Divisional tournament was held on Lake Shelbyville on April 26, 2008. Sponsored by Bass Pro Shops, Tracker Marine, Toyota Tundra, Mercury Motors, Humminbird, Minn Kota and the city of Sullivan, the tournament brought slow bites as anglers struggled to pull in larger weights.

Steve Welch and Rick Polley finished first with 6.71 lbs on seven fish. The team had 2nd big fish with a 1.17 lb. crappie. They stated they were using spring corks over stumps 15” deep. The team used Wally Marshall rods and custom rods with 20lb. pro line with the electric chicken Midsouth jig and dark green/light green jigs while fishing the Lakau River. The first place team earned $1,000.00.

Jim Muford and Joe Szabo took second place with 6.56 lbs. with a big fish win of 1.22 lbs. The team was dipping 5-7 foot deep with Grizzly jig poles and Bobby Garland black/chartreuse jigs. Second place earned the team $600.00.

Third place went to Andrew Harper and Darell Perry with a a 6.22 lb weight. The team fished with BnM poles with Wally Marshall green line and Slider jigs using corks. The team stated they were fishing 2.5 foot deep. Third place earned the team $500.00

Next up on the trial is Lake Minnewaska, MN. On May 3 and Tracker Series Divisional Tuttle Creek, KS on May 3rd followed by Kentucky Barkley, Paris TN. on May 17th.
