Bass Pro Shops Crappie Masters Toyota Lake Wylie tournament in Rockhill, S.C. was held May 10, 2008. The Tracker series divisional tournament was met with heavy storms as they battered the east coast during pre fishing week including tornadoes on the east coast states. Warm weather prevailed for tournament day as temperatures reached 80 degrees.
Leonard Flick and Rancy Autry of Leesville, SC took the top honors with a seven fish total of 10.58 lbs. The team was shooting docks in 15-20 foot waters with a variety of color of jigs tipped with minnows. The team earned $1,000.00 for their efforts.
Second place went to Joe Cantey and Milton Dowey of South Carolina whom weighed in 10.52 lbs just behind the first place team. The team was trolling with AWD blue baits and crappie snacks using Seal Star Rods in 12-26 foot waters. The team also took the big fish pot with a crappie weighing 2.11 lbs.
Third place went to the team of Randy Pope and Jerry Pruitt of North Carolina. The team weighted in 10.37 lbs. on seven fish. They stated they were fishing docks in 6 – 25 foot waters with white and fuzzy grub jigs on Bass Pro Ships Micro Lite 5 foot rods.
The next major tournaments are Kentucky Barkley Lake, Paris Tn. on May 17 followed by Divisional tournaments at Lake Rathbun, Iowa on June 7 and Sardis Lake, Mississippi on June 14.
