First place Lindy team of Randy Pope and Jerry Pruitt figured it out beating the field by over 2 lbs by weighing in a seven fish total of 11.86 lbs. The team shot docks having practiced it at this lake for a long time. They caught fish on their starting spot and had sit on dock spot for 1 hr before competition started. They caught fish all day long. The fish weighed in mostly came from that one dock. Lindy little nipper and fuzzy grub was the jig of choice and they used 4.5 – 5 foot rods. White fuzzy grub was good today. The team stated they used a combination of color and sizes during pre fish and knew what they are going to use on tournament day. The second place Toyota Team of Whitey Outlaw and Dean Sanders also sponsored by BnM Poles and Vicious fishing line, weighed in 9.47 lbs on their seven fish. The team also had second big fish of 2.04 lbs. Using live bait only they drug the bottom and it paid off. They won $20141.00.
Third place was taken by 2008 National Champion Mike Parrott who weighed in 9.30 lbs. Parrott stated he fished the mouth of a cut in 20-22 foot waters. He caught his fish about 14 foot deep using a double hook minnow rig. He stated he couldn’t find the shallow fish during pre fishing but did find them deep fish on Thursday and they hung around through the bad weather. He used 12 foot BnM and Wally Marshall rods and pink and chartreuse jigs is what he caught most of his fish on. Third place earned him $1000.00.
