Bass Pro Shops Crappie Masters tournament trail comes to Tavares, Florida on Harris Chain of Lakes on January 29-30. The tournament is a two day event for the title of the Florida State Championship sponsored by the City of Tavares and Lake County Florida Dept. of Tourism and Southeast Toyota. Bass Pro Shops, Tracker Boats, Minn Kota, Humminbird and present this 2010 season kick off tournament.
A media fish off will be held at Wooton Park, Tavares, FL. from 7-11 a.m. on Jan. 28.
Registration for teams and late entry is on January 28, 2010 at the Tavares Civic Center at 5 p.m., with the seminar at 6 p.m and a crappie technique school for the public at 7 p.m. The public can attend by contacting the City of Tavares, limited seating is available. The tournament weigh-in on both January 29 & 30 will be at 3:30 p.m. at Wooton Park, downtown Tavares, Fl. Fishing begins at 7 am both days. A Taste of Tavares will be held at Wooton Park Jan 29th from 5 pm to 7 pm after the weigh in. The public is invited to come enjoy the weigh in and the food.
Bass Pro Shops Crappie Masters Kid’s Fishing Rodeo is January 30th and free for children 15 and under. Parents may bring their kids to fish for prizes and fun. Registration is 8 a.m. and activities are from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Wooton Park. The kids fishing rodeo is sponsored by the City of Tavares, Sandy’s Bait & Tackle and Bass Pro Shops of Orlando.
Next on the tournament trail is a one day national qualifier and grass roots tournament on Monroe-Jessup-Harney-St Johns River in Sanford, Florida on February 6. That tournament is followed by a major one day national qualifier and grass roots tournament at Lake Talquin on Feb. 13. Grass Roots division is for anglers who have never fished a Crappie Masters tournament in the last 5 years and would like to experience tournament fishing or that have only fished in a grass roots tournament in 2009. Grass Roots entries are 60.00 per team and they will fish against other grass root entries for 70% of the total purse. All rules apply for the grass roots division. Grass roots entries can not qualify for the National Championship held in October on Truman Lake, Clinton, MO. All two day tournaments are 100% payback in cash & prizes and one day major national qualifiers a minimum $10,000.00 cash payback on 50 boats.
