Toyota Tundra Lake Talquin Tournament Kicks Off 2008 Season

Bass Pro Shops Crappie Masters kicks off the 2008 season with the opening one day national qualifying tournament. The Toyota Tundra Lake Talquin tournament in Tallahassee, Florida will be held on January 19th, 2008. Sponsored by Bass Pro Shops, Tracker Boats, Toyota Tundra, Mercury Marine, Minn-Kota, Hummingbird and the Tallahassee Sports Commission anglers will compete for a guaranteed minimum of $12,000.00 cash plus prizes. The top 20 teams will qualify for the National Championship held October 15-18, 2008 at Harris Chain of Lakes in Tavares, FL.

2007 tournament champions was Food Source team of Stephen and Kevin McElroy who weighed in 7 fish for 15.01 lbs. They finished better than a pound above the field. In 2008 the team will be in a Food Source shrink wrap defending their title.

Seminar and late entry registration is January 18, 2008 at the Days Inn in Tallahassee, Fl. formerly the Tallahasseee Inn. The tournament on Saturday will weigh-in at Whippoorwill Sportsman Lodge.

Bass Pro Shops Crappie Masters Kid’s Rodeo is January 19th and free for children 12 and under. Parents may bring their kids to fish for prizes and fun. Registration is 8am and activities are from 9 am to 11 am at Whippoorwills Sportsman Lodge. Kids will need to bring their poles and bait.

The Lake Talquin event is followed by the Toyota Tundra Florida State Championship series. Harris Chain of Lakes (Jan. 26) and Lakes Monroe-Jessup (Feb 1) are open one day national qualifiers for the State Championship held at Lakes Monroe-Jessup on Feb 2, 2008. All teams fishing both Harris and Monroe-Jessup tournaments will qualify to fish the State Championship

The 2008 tournament trail season introduces a few changes, each divisional tournament is a stand alone tournament qualifying the top five teams for the championship. The Ultimate Challenge one pole-artificial only bait tournament will be May 31 & June 1st on Truman Lake. The Missouri and Mississippi State Championships are open 2 day tournaments with no qualifying lakes. Come join us for the 2008 season.
